Acupuncture (St Leonards clinics only)
Acupuncture is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) founded more than 5000 years ago and has now become an accepted part of Western medicine.
Traditional Chinese Medical Theory believes the vital energy that flows through our bodies does so along specific pathways or channels. Acupuncture is the practice of inserting very fine needles to specific points along these channels to restore imbalances to this flow.
We often use acupuncture in conjunction with other therapies such as physiotherapy and massage to minimise recovery time from muscle and joint injuries and to decrease pain.
Chinese Medicine can be used to treat:
Respiratory problems such as asthma, bronchitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis
Digestive issues such as toothache, ulcers, gastritis, colitis, constipation, diarrhoea, dysentery, liver and gall bladder disorders and weight control
Neurological and muscular problems such as headache, migraine, neuropathy, nervous tension, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, back and neck pain, arthritis, and sciatica
Gynaecology issues including fertility enhancement if you are having trouble conceiving
Psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, and nervousness
Most private health funds now provide a rebate for acupuncture services.
Workers compensation and CTP consults are invoiced directly to your insurer.
