No! Physiotherapists are primary health practitioners so private patients do not need a referral to see us.

Do you accept CTP and Worker’s Compensation claims?

If you are planning on claiming your injury through an insurance company then it is advisable to see your GP to get a referral to see a Get Active Physiotherapist – this makes claim management easier and reduces claim dispute issues from insurers. If you already have a claim number please bring this and details of your insurer to your initial appointment.

Yes, and ON THE SPOT!

It is advisable to bring along any x-rays and scan results that you may already have had taken, a pair of shorts if the injury is to a bodypart that is under normal clothing, your private health fund card (if you are a member) and means of paying for your consult – ie cash, cheque, credit card. The more information we have, the more effect your treatment will be!

Can I purchase Orthotics as Get Active?

Yes!

Our clinics use state-of-the-art computer software and footplate scanning technology called “Gaitscan” to assess foot function and order individual custom molded orthotics. These are excellent for reducing Achilles Tendon, shin, knee and lower back problems.

See a video preview of the “Gaitscan” system.

What if I’m not a member but need to use your facilities in my own time for my rehabilitation?

No problem!

Get Active can provide you with a FREE 1 week pass to access all Fitness First facilities in your own time. As well as this, we can arrange a special “Rehabilitation Membership” to allow you unlimited access to the gym to complete your rehabilitation exercise program. Ask your Physiotherapist for details.

If you are a CTP or Worker’s Compensation claim, we can invoice your insurance company for these memberships so you can get the best possible results.

How many sessions will I need to get better?

In your initial assessment your therapist will give you a “Patient Action Plan” which will outline your treatment program and how many sessions we estimate to get you back to full health. Your progress will be regularly checked throughout this period to ensure excellent progress is being made at all times.

Can I recommend people to come to Get Active?

The more, the merrier!

The majority of our clients are self‐referred. They come to see us because they are pleased with the outcomes we’ve achieved for them or because they have family and friends who were so pleased with our service they’ve sent others to us. We would be happy to expect the same word of mouth referrals from you. And to reward you, for every referral for physiotherapy, we will give you a complimentary 30 minute Remedial massage!

What if I want a massage?

You do not need to see the physiotherapists to have treatment by our skilled massage therapists. To make appointment for these therapists simply contact our friendly admin team. However if your condition is recurrent or undiagnosed we recommend physiotherapy assessment prior to massage.

Many physiotherapy patients will also have some sessions with the massage therapist  to ensure comprehensive recovery is achieved – regular massage and acupuncture is also a great way to prevent re-injury and muscle tightness.
